Internship
To venture a step further in nourishing collaborative interdisciplinary research, the SPLITGeoscience program incorporates the work placement/internship option for students interested in gaining workforce experience. After the completion of the School program, interested students wanting to continue with the program will have an opportunity to engage in collaborative research though work placement or internships
Although this program will prioritize undergraduate underrepresented students, all students will be given the opportunity. The goal is to involve students in collaborative research in a real work setting, which will enhance students’ career path in various instances such as research experience and professional networking. The effort will focus on keeping students engaged in community-oriented research and on establishing institutional collaboration between partner institutions and industry/government
The PI and collaborators will help each student and seek to align each student’s interest and enthusiasm with the right role and organization. The work placement or internships will be completed within a year after completion of the School program. Students may be involved in their programs from 2 to 6 months, which will depend on the requirements of the host organization and students’ availability and interest. The broader intentions will be to develop collaboration between the host organization and home universities through the involved students
